Siberian Deer Musk Maceration 2026

Of all the deer musk I have worked with, Siberian musk has become one of my personal favourites.

There is something about its character that I find incredibly beautiful.

For this maceration, I used a high concentration of real Siberian deer musk grains, slowly macerated in aged sandalwood oil.

It was prepared in 2026, which means this is still a very young maceration.

And I think that is part of what makes it interesting.

Right now, you can still experience some of the younger character of the musk. There is a subtle animalic warmth and something that reminds me slightly of tobacco, but already you can feel those edges beginning to round.

Then comes the powderiness.

This is the part I love.

As it settles on the skin, the musk begins changing the sandalwood itself. The sandalwood no longer feels simply creamy or woody.

It almost feels as though sandalwood has been turned into powder.

Warm. Soft. Musky. Powdery.

And the longer it stays on the skin, the smoother it becomes.

This is very different from my Himalayan Musk Maceration. The Himalayan has a stronger, more immediate presence. The Siberian feels rounder and more powdery, with a character that slowly unfolds rather than announcing itself all at once.

And it is still changing.

With natural musk macerations, I don’t believe the day you prepare them is the day they are finished.

Time is part of the formula.

The animalic character settles. The musk moves deeper into the sandalwood. The powderiness develops, and the two materials slowly stop smelling like separate ingredients.

I can already see where this one is going.

And that is exactly why it has become one of my favourite deer musk macerations.
